EXPO/FOOD RUNNER/BUSSER
JOB PURPOSE:
North Park Beer Company looks to hire positive, hard-working, detail-oriented, and team-focused individuals to join our expanding team. Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-volume setting is a plus but not required.
The Expo / Food Runner / Busser plays a key role in supporting both kitchen and front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth kitchen-to-table flow, accurate food execution, and a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests. This position is responsible for coordinating food orders, delivering food promptly, and maintaining service areas to support an efficient and high-functioning team.
This role requires strong communication, a sense of urgency, and a team-oriented mindset, along with a commitment to providing warm, attentive hospitality and a consistently excellent guest experience.
**We do not hire for specific locations. If hired, you will be scheduled to work at our locations in North Park, and Crown Point**
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure accurate and timely communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Organize and manage food tickets, ensuring all orders are prepared, timed, and delivered correctly.
- Act as the point of control for the expo line, maintaining order, pacing, and flow of tickets during service.
- Coordinate with culinary staff to ensure proper timing of dishes and complete orders before running food.
- Inspect food for quality, accuracy, and presentation before leaving the kitchen.
- Run food to tables quickly and efficiently, ensuring guests receive the correct items.
- Communicate clearly with guests when delivering food, identifying dishes and answering any questions.
- Provide attentive and proactive hospitality when delivering food, including checking in with guests to ensure they have everything they need and promptly retrieving any additional items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of expo line, kitchen pass, and service areas at all times.
- Keep the expo area stocked with necessary service items (plates, garnishes, utensils, etc.).
- Clear and reset tables promptly to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Assist with bussing duties, including removing dishes, sanitizing tables, and restocking service areas.
- Support overall flow of service by assisting culinary and taproom staff as needed.
- Ensure all service stations are stocked with necessary supplies (napkins, utensils, condiments, etc.).
- Follow all company and health/safety and sanitation protocols, including food safety practices.
- Promptly communicate any delays, issues, or inconsistencies in food quality or timing to taproom, culinary and leadership teams.
- Maintain a sense of urgency while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow all checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and hospitality with guests, management, and co-workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience in a restaurant, brewery, or hospitality setting is preferred but not required.
- Possess a strong work ethic and a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with culinary and front-of-house teams.
- Possess or be able to obtain a San Diego Food Handler’s Card.
- Possess awareness of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Able to communicate effectively and be understood in English.
- Able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to work in crowded and confined spaces.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while working under pressure.

COMPENSATION:
- Minimum wage ($17.75) plus tips
